Art Exhibition Opening Event: Sarah Nakiito & Liisa-Irmelen Liwata: Still I Rise

The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the diversity of identity and the cohesive power of shared narratives.

Exhibition weaves together two practices rooted in resilience, ancestral memory, and the ever-evolving act of self-definition. Nakiito’s and Liwata’s works navigate the emotional and political terrain of survival, where defiant hope, tactile materiality, and deeply personal mythologies converge. Sarah Nakiito and Liisa-Irmelen Liwata’s exhibition Still I Rise will have an open opening event on Friday 5 September 2025 from 18-22 in the exhibition space Vintti. The exhibition is curated by Elham Rahmati and Vidha Saumya, founders of NO NIIN magazine. The Night of Phenomena cultural event will take place at the same time. The event is free to all. The opening events of art exhibitions in Kunsthalle Seinäjoki are always open to all, free of charge and suitable for all ages. The opening event is mainly organised in conjunction with Kalevan Navetta event days, when the house is also full of other varied cultural events. Opening events can include interviews with artists and curators, open workshops and guided tours to help you get the most out of the new exhibition.

 

The opening party of the exhibition is part of the Night of Phenomena (Ilmiöiden yö) city-wide cultural event in Seinäjoki.

Arrival at Kalevan Navetta 

Address: Nyykoolinkatu 25, 60100 Seinäjoki. The main door of the building is located on the side of the courtyard between Kalevan Navetta and Itikanmäki residential buildings. Kalevan Navetta can be reached on foot or by bicycle via Vaasantie or the Lakeuden aamunkoi bridge over Pohjan Valtatie.

There are about 50 parking spaces for customers around Kalevan Navetta. The first two (2) hours are free with a ticket from the machine or the parking app, and the following hours cost 1 €/h. The nearest public parking is located on Maakunnankatu, approximately 700 metres from the building. On busy event days, we recommend using other means of arrival instead of a car or parking in the Maakunnankatu parking area if necessary.
