Kunsthalle Seinäjoki exhibitions and workshop
Tiina Laasonen: I Know a Tree That Grew Up (exhibition space Halli, 2nd floor)
The exhibition deals with memory and memories, as well as their connection to a person’s identity. The artist explores the theme through large wooden sculptures. What kind of emotional bond can form between a tree and a human? The sculptures are made from a wide range of different tree species, which the artist received as donations from people.
Sarah Nakiito & Liisa-Irmelen Liwata: Still I Rise (exhibition space Vintti, 3rd floor)
The exhibition deals with survival and the political and social environment associated with it. The artists have examined this common theme through their own working methods. How do historical events and our own past affect our psychological resilience and the formation of our identity? The exhibition invites viewers to reflect and seek change.
Workshop: Lucky Stars
11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Location: Workshop space Itikka, 2nd floor
In this non-stop workshop, you will learn how to fold small origami stars out of paper. According to Japanese legend, origami stars bring good luck and are often given as gifts to loved ones. Traditionally, they can be used to fill a glass jar, which is then believed to bring good luck. You can take the stars you fold with you or help fill Kunsthalle Seinäjoki’s lucky jar!
